Daytona Beach, Florida (February 17, 2023) - With the dawn of the season, G2G Racing was looking to build on a solid foundation from last season.

As the weekend unfolded, the team prepared the truck for technical inspection. The No. 46 Toyota Tundra rolled through inspection with no issues. As the team brought the truck back to the garage area, the team went to work, preparing the truck for the lone practice session of the weekend.

After a late driver change, Norm Benning, most known for his 2013 run at Eldora, was tabbed as the driver of the No. 46 Toyota Tundra. The team felt optimistic that he would pilot the truck to the top of the leaderboard.

As Benning made his way onto the famous 2.5-mile, Daytona International Speedway, he jumped behind some of the series' best drivers, looking for a drafting partner.

As he made laps, his truck slowly worked his way up the leaderboard. As he rose on the scoring pylon, the entire team felt confident in his truck. As he continued recording laps, he rocketed up to 7th, before he brought it back to the attention of the crew. He pulled in, undid his belts and window net, and climbed out of his racing machine with a huge grin on his face.

As the session concluded, he slotted into the 10th position.

The next day was the true test of speed, as the team looked to qualify for the evening's Next Era Energy 250.

As the qualifying session drew closer, the team became excited with anticipation, after being so fast in practice. Benning belted himself in, and took to the track for his single lap.

He was able to turn a fast lap of 174.476 mph. This placed him 4th on the leaderboard.

As the session continued, his time slowly fell down the leaderboard, before finally settling in 36th.

Although this should have put him in the show, the last 4 spots became occupied by drivers who had more owner points than the No. 46, thus making Benning the odd man out. It was recorded as a Did Not Qualify (DNQ).

The team will lick their wounds and head to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in two weeks for the Victoria's Voice 200. The racing action is slated to start at 9:00pm on March 3rd. Live coverage will be found on Fox Sports 1, in addition to SiriusXM NASCAR, Channel 90.
