POST-RACE REPORT: KANSAS 2

9/12/2022

Kansas City, Kansas (September 12, 2022) - Brennan Poole and his G2G Racing team was looking for a good weekend, to break the team’s stretch of bad luck. He was able to do just that, in Friday Night’s Kansas Lottery 200.

In practice, Poole ran ten laps, with a fast lap of 32.486 seconds. This was the 32nd fastest time in the session. After coming off the track, the team went to work, improving the track for the upcoming qualifying session.

In qualifying, Poole picked up his pace, running a qualifying lap of 32.322 seconds, which put him on the provisional pole. As the session continued, the team began to worry that Poole’s time would not be good enough to make the 36-truck field. As some of the slower trucks began to qualify, they were unable to best Poole’s time, locking him into the field.

The team began scrambling to make the needed adjustments to the truck for the evening’s race, as the conditions looked to be much different as night time began to set in.

After pre-race festivities and the command to start engines had concluded, Poole and the team felt confident that they could work their way towards the front.

As the green flag waved, Poole methodically began to make his way to the front. By the end of Stage 1, Poole had made his way up to 28th, just behind the position for the Lucky Dog.

He then brought his truck down pit road, as the team went to work to make adjustments. In the flurry of changes, one member of the pit crew jumped over the wall too early, forcing Poole to restart the race at the back of the pack. Poole once again settled in and began to move his way forward.

He worked his way back up to 29th, before a caution slowed his pace, once again placing him one spot behind the Lucky Dog position. Shortly after, Stage 2 came to an end. Poole once again brought the truck down pit road for service, as the team went to work, making adjustments to his No. 46 Macc Door Systems Tundra.

Before the race went back to green for the final stage, crew chief, Tim Sliva, came across the radio, to help motivate Poole for the final stint of the race. Poole replied over the radio saying, “I'll give it my best like I always do.”

At the drop of the green flag, Poole once again made his way through the field. He has placed himself on a strategy in attempt to finish inside the Top-10, but taking a gamble on fuel mileage.

As the strategy began to play out, and some of the leaders came down pit road for service, he began to pass some of the series’ biggest names, moving him inside the Top-15 with only a handful of laps remaining. Then, with five laps left in the race, while Poole was preparing to challenge for the 13th position, the truck shut off, and he quickly brought it down pit road.

After a quick investigation and repair, the team sent him back out. Unfortunately, he lost 3 laps on pit road, causing him to free fall to the 34th position, where he stayed for the final laps of the race.

G2G Racing will look to build on the positive of Poole’s run, as the team heads to the Last Great Colosseum, the Bristol Motor Speedway. A rare Thursday Evening event will be on-tap, as the series will start the second round of the playoffs. The racing action is slated to start at 9:00pm Eastern, with coverage on Fox Sports 1, and SiriusXM NASCAR, Channel 90.
