Mooresville, N.C. (February 6, 2023) - G2G Racing has announced that former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion, Johnny Sauter, and G2G owner, Tim Viens, will pilot the team’s two entries in the upcoming NextEra Energy 250 at the Daytona International Speedway.

“We are excited to have Johnny (Sauter) back,” Viens said in an interview. “He did a great job for us at Daytona last year, and I am looking forward to having him back in our truck.”

In his interview, Viens revealed that he will pilot the team’s No. 46 entry, while Sauter will navigate the No. 47.

Sauter is no stranger to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as he lays claim to the 2016 Series Championship. He has also been a perennial front runner on-track and in the season point standings. From 2009 to 2019, he was consistently in the Top-5 and Top-10 in points. He has also been a journeyman in NASCAR, making starts across all three of NASCAR’s top-tier divisions.

Last season with the team, Sauter drove his truck from last on the starting grid to inside the Top-20 in just a few laps, before his race was cut short, due to electrical issues. He will look for a much different result this year.

As for Viens, he has made starts across both the Truck Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series the last few seasons. Although he hasn’t been a front runner, he has kept a steady pace every time in the truck, leading to some great finishes for himself and the team. He will look to use his experience to get to the front at Daytona.

As for sponsors, Sauter will carry Barker Construction colors, while Viens will carry the SubSafe colors for Daytona. Additionally, the team will once again look to the leadership of crew chief, Tim Sliva, as he helped slowly build G2G Racing last season.

With a fresh perspective after a lengthy offseason, G2G Racing is ready to roll for the NextEra Energy 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. The action gets started on Friday, February 17th, at 7:30pm Eastern. The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 (FS1), in addition to being broadcasted live on SiriusXM NASCAR, Channel 90.
